Community Library - Oonagh Farrell

The site in Chapelizod is caught between the river Liffey and an unpleasant busy junction. I made the move to create a buffer between the noisy traffic and the library while directing the main focus on the river. The library is pushed to the edge of the site and distanced from the road using a series of walls. The library is the last wall in the public space and presents a hard face to the street. In contrast the entire face overlooking the river is open. A series of fins across the facade define it. Internally I wished to bring the external in and blend their apparent succinct boundaries.
